are four different professionals who work with children with
social issues:

Social Development Groups
While each of the
following professionals comes recommended by at least three SPED PAC
members, we
cannot in any way guarantee the result. It is important to check their
references, review their credentials, and interview them to understand
whether their skills and approach are a good fit for your child.
Having
training group leader is key. School professionals can attend
classes or hirer an outside
consultant.
Groups
can be formal and informal group (such as lunch groups).
The
Academy's have a Licensed Social Worker or clinical Psychologist
as the
group leader.
The
groups are larger (< 15), take place in a gym, students learn about
listening to rules and playing with a larger group.
These professionals can also be hired as consultant to schools.

The Dana Groups have a group of psychologist leading their groups
(because of this leader, check with your insurance company for coverage
of this service). These are smaller groups (< 8) they also do group
actives, discuss
feelings with the students and getting along with others.

YouthCare Social Skill Groups
holds groups throughout the school year focusing on social pragmatic
skills that support social success for children. In particular,
they focus on helping children to develop social and
interpersonal relationships through self-awareness, social skill
enhancement, and social thinking in a therapeutic, relationship-based
environment. Social skill groups ration is 1:5, and serve children ages
5 - 16 with social cognitive challenges.

Children and Teen Groups:
The
Peter Pan Center provides social-emotional learning groups for children
(PreK-grade 7) and teens (grades 8-12) who experience mild to moderate social challenges. While our
students have a range of cognitive profiles and learning styles, most
of our students have little or only mild difficulty accessing academic
curriculum at school.
